Why "Five Oaks?"

At first glance, some might assume the name of our company has its genesis in the fact that there are five members in our immediate family -- and each one of us loves the outdoors. We have always found trees to be symbols of beauty, strength, endurance, protection and provision.

Yet, the name "Five Oaks" has its origins in the Bible - God's Holy  Word.

The number "five" as found in scripture represents "Grace". It's only through God's grace that we have hope of an Eternal Life with Him.

The number five is found in such familiar Bible Stories as the Genesis biography of Joseph - he gave his brother, Benjamin, five times the amount of food as his other brother. (Genesis 43:34)

It is found in the famous story of David and Goliath - David chose five smooth stones to use in his sling when he approached the giant. (I Samuel 17:40)

When Jesus fed the five thousand - He used a young boy's five loaves in performing the miracle. (Mark 6:38-44)

The symbolic, stately Oak Tree is also found throughout scripture.

Isaiah deemed the tree - and those who are filled with the Lord's Spirit - "Oaks of Righteousness" a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor. (Isaiah 61:1-3)

In Psalm 1 David writes that blessed will be the man . . . whose delight is the Law of the Lord, who meditates on it daily -- that person will be:  ". . .  like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."

Finally, the Apostle Paul prayed in Ephesians that :   " . . . Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love."  (Ephesians 3:17)

Our greatest hope is that "Five Oaks" gives glory and honor to God in the way we do our work, and that each of our clients will discover the wonderful grace of God's love and mercy through His Son, Jesus Christ.
